It’s been a while since we’ve had anything with the SCBC logo available to members, and even then we were limited to just T-shirts.

Not anymore!  We now have an account on CafePress where you can order cloths, glasses, hats (just about anything you can imagin) with our great new logo.

Also keep in mind that a portion of all sales go directly to the club to help offset expenses throughout the year.

Outdoor brewing possible (make a Stein Beer ??),

Each club sets up a simple booth/tent area for serving their beer (Bring your banner!),

Outdoor games possible (maybe a return of the UNYHA Beer Olympics?),

Informal beer competitions with prizes awarded,

BBQ competition? Outdoor cooking encouraged.

An outdoor event at a venue that would allow camping, camp fires, and beer, of course.

Centrally located within Western NY on the 16 acre property of a UNYHA member (1064 Wilson Road, Macedon NY)

Nominal admission will be $5/person at the event, kids free, and will cover: Porta-potties, trash disposal, one or two small shade tents and tables, grills and grilling tools, charcoal, firewood, plates, utensils, cups, water, maybe ice, maybe snacks.

What is not provided:
Beer or other beverages, dispensing equipment, add’l tents for shade or sleeping, food, games, musical instruments, chairs.

RV’s OK, but no utilities provided.

National Big Brew Day

Saturday May 5th is the American Homebrewers Association’s (AHA) national  annual day to celebrate Homebrewing.  Here in Central New York, the Salt City Brew Club will start brewing at 9:00 am with a celebration at noon. To see the brewers in action get there early.

This celebration is open to all. Come brew, learn how to brew, watch the brewers or just sample the wears. The hard core brewers will start at 9:00 am. The rest of the celebration will start at noon and go though the evening. Last year we brewed all day, ate, drank, fished, swam, boat rides, ate/drank some more, enjoyed a wonderful fire in the fire place and had many a camper/sleep over. Hope to see you there. Bring a dish to pass…or something to grill. We will also need Beer! Who can volunteer a keg? or three?

The Brewfest is Saturday February 4th at the Horticulture building on the New York State Fair grounds.  The format is the same as previous years, with two sessions; the afternoon session running from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and an evening session from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

Tickets are $35 at the door, or $30 in advance from The Blue Tusk, Empire Brewing, Middle Ages, Pooch’s, West End Beverage, Brillbecks Grocery, Party Source and Finger Lakes Beverage Center in Ithaca.

We’ll also be accepting nominations for club officers for January elections.  If you’ve ever thought of stepping-up and lending a hand, this is a great way to do so.

Before I go into announcing the next meeting, I have an announcement of my own… I have recently accepted a job in St. Louis and therefore can no longer act as president of the club. I want to thank everyone I met through this great organization!! In fact when I first moved to Syracuse I made my first friends through the club and have continued to nurture those friendships and make may more throughout the years.
The type of good people good beers attracts never ceases to amaze me!!

I’m actually currency in St. Louis so I will not be at the next meeting (Nov 8th). Although I will be at the Blue Tusk for the Great Lakes X-Mass Party (on Thursday Nov 10th) and at the Duvel Day (On Friday Nov 11th). If you can make it down to say bye great if not I wish all of you the best and hope our paths cross again in the future.
